Kware deaths: Suspect confesses he’s killed 42 women since 2022

The prime suspect in the murder of women whose bodies were discovered at a quarry dam in Kware, Pipeline in Embakasi South Sub-County, confessed to having killed and disposed of 42 female bodies.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Director Mohamed Amin in a press conference at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road on Monday, July 15, 2024, said the suspect identified as Collins Khalisia made the confessions after being arrested in the Soweto area in Kayole Sub-County.

Khalisia was arrested at 1 am outside a nightclub where he had gone to watch the Euro 2024 match final between England and Spain.

According to the DCI boss, the victims of the suspect are said to have been murdered between 2022 and as recently as July 11, 2024.

Amin termed Khalisia as a serial killer who has no respect for human life.

Suspect’s wife first victim

According to DCI boss Amin, the first victim of the suspect’s murders was his wife Imelda Khamenya whose body was also dismembered and dumped at the Kware dumpsite.

“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to having killed 42 females between 2022 and as recently as Thursday, July 11, 2024. The suspect alleged that his first victim was his wife, Imelda Khamenya, whose body was dismembered and dumped at the site” Amin said.

The mutilated bodies at the dumpsite were first discovered on Friday, July 12, 2024.

This is after a lady confessed to the locals that her sister who has been missing since July 26, 2024, had appeared to her in a dream and said that she was lonely at the quarry dam and that she needed to be taken home.

Amin said the motive for the suspect’s killing of his wife was driven by an incident in which he started a business for his wife but she instead squandered all the money.

“What motivated the young man to be a killer is he started a business for his wife and she squandered the business and out of bitterness he chopped her into pieces and dumped her in the quarry,” Amin said.

So far, nine bodies have been retrieved from the quarry dam in Kware in Mukuru Kwa Njenga slums.

The bodies have since been moved to City Mortuary by detectives to await post-mortem.

DCI commitment

On Sunday, July 15, 2024, the DCI issued a statement promising to undertake thorough investigations and bring the perpetrators to book, in under three weeks.
