Kmart has been heavily criticized after customers noticed higher prices for larger clothing sizes.
Montana, from Queensland, was shopping at Kmart when she noticed the brand’s Pocket Shorts cost $15 for sizes six and eight, but $17 for sizes 10 to 18.
The mother was baffled by the fact that the retail giant was apparently charging more for different sizes of the same product, while thousands of people were also outraged by the tactic.
“Since when did Kmart change prices for size 10 and up?” she asked in one video.
However, FEMAIL understands that a sudden drop in prices has led to some shorts being incorrectly priced inconsistently by staff.
Although all products cost $15, the $17 price tags are outdated from the old clothing stock.
Kmart’s website also advertises all sizes of the shorts for $15.
Montana’s video received a lot of attention from Kmart shoppers across Australia, with much content showing the perceived price difference.
“If you go out and order a large milkshake, do you expect to pay the same price as a medium?” someone asked.
“Unpopular opinion but as a size six person I should get a discount, after all I get less fabric,” one woman wrote.
‘I’ve literally always said this: bigger clothes should logically cost more and children’s clothes shouldn’t cost the same as adults!’ another added.
But others were not on board.
“I understand the logic, but everyone pays the same amount for different size shoes,” one woman argued.
“For those who say more fabric means more money, jumping to the next size doesn’t require $2 worth of material,” one person said.
