After the meeting, the royal family’s Instagram account shared an official portrait of the meeting, showing the two men on either side of the fireplace in the king’s private study.

The royal father of three is seen standing next to a framed photo of his wife Queen Maxima, 52, and their daughters Princess Catharina-Amalia, 20, Princess Alexia, 18, and Princess Ariane, 16.

In the undated image, Maxima and her daughters are all wearing white blouses and posing against a gray background.

Queen Maxima is flanked by her two youngest daughters, while Princess Catharina-Amalia places a hand on Princess Alexia’s shoulder.

The four royal women all wore their long hair down for the photo shoot and Maxima opted for minimal makeup.

The royal family endorsed the image of King Willem-Alexander’s meeting: ‘The king receives the chairman of the Senate faction of the PVV, Alexander van Hattem, at Huis ten Bosch Palace as an introduction.

‘This conversation concludes the series of receptions of faction leaders in the Senate. In recent months they have been received for a (renewed) introduction to the King. The new Senate was installed on June 13, 2023.’

In April 2020, King William announced that a photo of him with the late Queen Elizabeth had a place of honor in his office.

In one of the photos, King Willem and Queen Máxima are seen smiling together as they attended Royal Ascot as guests of Queen Elizabeth in June 2019.

In another shot, the couple poses next to the Queen as she awards King William a supernumerary Knight of the Garter.

The event is a special honor reserved only for foreign royals during the prestigious annual Order of the Garter service.

The Order of the Garter is a 700-year tradition, founded by Edward III in 1348, and recognizes contributions of great public service from those being honored – usually Lords and Ladies of Great Britain.

Although the Order has a limit of 24 members, excluding the Queen and Prince Charles, foreign royals have been granted honorary ‘Stranger Knight’ status since 1813, with controversial recipients over the years including Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany before the First World War .

While King Willem’s office is full of family photos, Queen Máxima’s seems a little more stripped of personal belongings.

In released photos of the Queen working from home, she can be seen chatting on a video call while in a trendy and modern room decorated with monochrome wallpaper. The carpet, chairs and elegant desk are all colored in a rich royal blue.

Meanwhile, the shelves of the bookshelf are a golden yellow color, matching her gold lamp and a gold sculpture on the Queen’s desk.

The couple’s palace in The Hague had only recently been renovated due to structural problems.

The renovations, which were completed in 2019, took five years and cost €63 million (£54.96 million).
