Kindiki highlights major reforms he made during his tenure as Interior CS

Cabinet nominee Kithure Kindiki has highlighted the major reforms he made during his stint as former Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS).

Speaking in Parliament when he appeared before the Parliament Committee on Appointments to defend his nomination on Thursday, August 1, 2024, Kindiki underscored that during his tenure, his ministry rolled out a massive police equipment modernization programme which will be rolled out in five years.

The CS nominee added that through his efforts, the ministry convinced the government and the treasury to allocate resources for major projects.

He specifically pointed out that the ministry was able to get Ksh7 billion which has already been utilised in air and land assets.

“We’ve rolled out a massive Police Equipment Modernization Programme which will be rolled out in five years. We were able to convince the government and the Treasury to allocate Sh7 billion which has already been spent to buy air and land assets,” the ex-CS said.

Kindiki was among the CSs fired when President William Ruto disbanded his cabinet following immense pressure from sustained Gen Z protests, at the time, the Head of State said the move would grant the opportunity to form a broad-based cabinet.

He is now among the ex-CSs nominated by the president.
