A man in his 20s who drowned while trying to retrieve a pair of sunglasses from the surf has been remembered as a loving husband with a vibrant personality.
Sahil Panwar was swimming with friends at Kilcunda Surf Beach, southeast of Melbourne, about 8.30pm on Friday when he was swept away while trying to get his glasses back.
An hour later he was found unconscious on the shore.
Paramedics tried to revive him, but he died on the spot.
On Monday, his cousin Sunil Kumar wrote a heartfelt tribute, describing how Mr Panwar married the love of his life four years ago.
The happy couple lived in Cranbourne East, about an hour north of the beach, before the tragic death.

Mr. Kumar has a GoFundMe campaign to help his family repatriate his body to India.
“It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we contact you to share the devastating news of the untimely passing of Sahil – a vibrant young individual,” he said.
“Sahil was a beloved husband, son, brother and friend, known for his infectious laugh, warm spirit and zest for life.”
“His absence has left a void that can never be filled, but together we can ease the financial burden that has fallen on his family.”
Mr Panwar’s social media pages were chock full of selfies with his wife in Melbourne and on holiday in the snow.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.

Mr Panwar was one of four men who died in Victorian waters on Friday.
A man was found dead at Merri Creek in Coburg, Melbourne’s north, at 2.30pm.
Police are investigating whether his death is suspicious or not and have appealed to the public to help identify him.
He was last seen wearing a light-colored shirt, black shorts and black runners.
Another man died at Surf Beach on Phillip Island after being pulled to shore by passers-by about 3.30pm. He could not be revived.
Fifteen minutes later a third man died while diving in Port Welshpool, in the state’s south.
His body was found about 20 kilometers offshore and retrieved by water police. His death is not considered suspicious.
