Kevin Bacon joins his longtime friend and Loverboy costar Marisa Tomei for the SAG-AFTRA strike picket lines in New York City

Kevin Bacon and Marisa Tomei showed their support for the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike as they were spotted on Tuesday joining the pickets lines in New York City.

Bacon, 65, and Tomei, 58, were seen among the large group of strikers protesting outside of the Warner Bros. Discovery Headquarters building in The Big Apple. 

The actors worked together on the 2005 film Loverboy as well as the 2012 comedy  Crazy Stupid Love.

They each held up a large picket sign where the top-half had the Screen Actors Guild (‘SAG’) logo above the phrase ‘SAG-AFTRA on STRIKE!’, with both in white font behind a black background.

Meanwhile, the lower-half of the actors’ picket signs featured a white power fist in the center behind a gold colored background. The hashtag ‘#SAGAFTRASTRONG’ in white font was also included in the lower-half of the signs.

Bacon wore a black SAG-AFTRA t-shirt, a pair of dark blue jeans, and a pair of red and white sneakers.

The Footloose star completed his ensemble with a grey-colored baseball cap and a pair of black tinted sunglasses.

Meanwhile, Tomei showed off her slender figure in a black tank top, a pair of baggy blue jeans, and a pair of nude-colored open-toed sandals that were secured with a back strap.

The Oscar-winning actress completed her look with a set of earrings, and a pair of black sunglasses as she had her long hair done in a half-up, half-down hairdo. 

The My Cousin Vinny (the film she won her Oscar for) star had her phone placed in a small bag a featured a strap that was woven with black and white thread that she had wrapped across her body.

Bacon and Tomei became friends after the two actors worked together in the 2005 film Loverboy, which the former also directed and produced.

They also worked with Kyra Sedgwick, who is Bacon’s wife.

Following the release of Loverboy, the two would reunite to work again on more projects, including the 2012 comedy film Crazy Stupid Love and in 2019 for the Live in Front of a Studio Audience Television specials on ABC where they starred in several live, re-created episodes from the popular 1970s sitcom All in The Family.

The ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike began on July 14 and is the latest of the ongoing labor disputes in Hollywood. The WGA strike, which saw writers crossing the picket line, has been going on since early May.

It is the first time that actors initiated a labor dispute in America since 1980 and the first time that both actors and writers went on strike at the same time since 1960.

The ongoing SAG-AFTRA Strike, which enters its twenty-fifth day of protests, have seen many well-known actors showing solidarity with striking actors by doing one (or several) of the following actions: issuing statements of support of the strikes;  joining picket lines in LA, New York City; and donating/handing out water bottles and/or food to the picketers.

Among the well-known names who took part in the picket lines in either Los Angeles or New York City include Jason Sudeikis, Susan Sarandon, Vanessa Hudgens, Mandy Moore, Logan Lerman, America Ferrera, and Josh Gad, to name a few. 

The U.K. actors union Equity held rallies in London and Manchester on July 21 in support of SAG-AFTRA Strike. Among the well-known names who attend the Equity Rally in London include Brian Cox, Jim Carter, Hayley Atwell, David Oyelowo, and Oscar-nominated actress Imelda Staunton, to name a few.
