On the other hand, another initiative was carried out towards two protestors Rex and Evans who succumbed to their injuries. Their contribution as of June 27, 2024, reached Ksh3 million surpassing the target goal which was Ksh2 million.

The Defenders Coalition, entrusted with the distribution of funds, gave reassurance that the raised amount would directly reach hospitals and clinics providing care to the injured individuals.

Their direct allocation was to expedite support to those in need and facilitate their recovery process. The collective efforts of Kenyans in rallying behind the cause exemplify the power of community and compassion in times of adversity.

M-Changa Africa urged people to join them to ensure the cause succeeds.

On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, Kenyan activists among them Hanifa Farsafi, invited their followers and people of goodwill to contribute to an M-changa account.

The initiative, led by M-changa Africa under their slogan ‘care for the injured,’ witnessed a tremendous outpouring of support as thousands came together to contribute, demonstrating the spirit of democracy and unity within the community.

Having been launched on Wednesday morning, the drive raised Ksh7.5 million by 3:30 pm, only Ksh3 million short of the Ksh10 million target which was to be raised within 27 days.

When announcing the total funding, organizers said the medical bills of those hospitalized and those whose families lost loved ones would be covered by the raised amount.

“Public support from businesses, medics, lawyers, and ordinary Kenyans has been phenomenal. We still need your support to assist with the medical expenses of those seriously injured or hospitalized,” the appeal read in part.
