Kasie Hunt’s exit from CNN remains speculation despite online rumours

The future of Kasie Hunt, an American journalist known for her work with CNN, has recently come under speculation with rumours surfacing about her possible exit from the network. Prior to her career in CNN, Hunt was associated with NBC News from 2013 to 2021, marking her as one of the industry’s most seasoned and adept professionals.

Kasie Hunt, a familiar name in American political correspondence, currently hosts two CNN shows, Early Start and State of the Race. Despite online rumours suggesting otherwise, no official reports or confirmations have been released to support the idea of Hunt leaving her current position at CNN.

In fact, the journalist continues to fulfil her duties at the network, with her latest Instagram post featuring an interview with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Her post, shared less than 10 hours ago, detailed her pressing of Kennedy on several issues during his presidential run.

In 2023, CNN announced that Hunt would become the anchor of its Early Start morning show. Her role as chief national affairs analyst also includes hosting Early Start on CNN from 5-6 am ET on weekdays and State of the Race from 11 am-12 pm ET on CNN International on weekdays. Alongside these responsibilities, Hunt covers national and breaking news for CNN US. The origins of the rumours about her departure from CNN remain uncertain, but given the evidence, it seems unlikely that Hunt is planning to leave the network in the near future.

Hunt’s journey to CNN in 2021 followed more than eight years at NBC News. While there, she anchored shows such as “Way Too Early” and “KasieDC,” and frequently appeared on “Morning Joe.” The Michigan-born journalist also served as a Capitol Hill Correspondent for NBC News.

Before her role as an anchor, Hunt worked as a political reporter and correspondent for MSNBC, where she covered various political candidates. Notable interviews in her career include a 2013 interview with Donald Trump in Iowa and the first interview with him after he declared his presidential bid in 2015. Hunt also interviewed now-President Joe Biden on air from South Carolina during a critical period in his campaign in 2020.

In 2018, Hunt’s work with an NBC News team was recognised with the Joan Shorenstein Barone Award for their reporting on sexual harassment allegations on Capitol Hill. She also gained experience as a lead reporter for the Associated Press on Mitt Romney’s 2012 campaign, reported on health policy for the National Journal’s CongressDaily, and covered the 2010 midterm elections for Politico. Hunt’s journalism career began as an intern at NBC News.

Hunt currently resides in the Washington, D.C. area with her husband, journalist Matt Rivera, and their son, working from CNN’s Washington, D.C. Bureau. To sum up, there is no solid evidence to substantiate the rumours about Kasie Hunt’s possible departure from CNN, which she joined just two years ago, suggesting that she will continue her work with the network.
