The eldest daughter of celebrity chef Jock Zonfrillo has paid tribute to her late father on what would have been his 47th birthday. 

Ava Zonfrillo, 22, shared a poignant memory of her dad in a post to Instagram Stories on Friday.

She captioned a photo of herself as a child with her father: ‘Missing you more every day. Happy birthday dad’.  

In May, Ava broke her silence on her father’s death with a heartwrenching tribute to the chef.

‘Still can’t accept that we’ll be remembering you for more time than we had you, but doesn’t mean we’ll love you any less,’ Ava wrote under an Instagram post.

The post was accompanied by eight photos and two videos of Zonfrillo, some of them featuring the father and daughter together both in Ms Zonfrillo’s childhood and some more recent snaps.

Ava is the daughter of Jock and first wife Amanda Ewing.

She initially followed her father’s footsteps into the culinary world, working hospitality public relations.

Jock died in his hotel room at Zagame’s House on Lygon Street in Carlton. He was found by police at around 2am on Monday, May 1.

The tragic loss came the same day Channel Ten was meant to premiere the fifteenth season of MasterChef Australia.

He is survived by his third wife Lauren, and his four children: grown-up daughters Ava and Sophia from his first two marriages and Alfie and Isla with Lauren. 

The media personality was scheduled for several publicity engagements for season 15 of MasterChef when he died suddenly.

He had only recently returned to Australia from Italy after moving there with third wife Lauren and their children, five-year-old Alfie and two-year-old Isla, choosing the hotel for its proximity to where the family used to live.
