Jimmy Butler claims to have written SIXTY country songs as the Miami Heat star eyes a debut album in the genre: ‘I’ve had a blast while doing it’

Although he may be one of the best players in the NBA, Miami Heat small forward Jimmy Butler recently expressed his interest in dabbling in country music.

Tuesday, Butler said The guard that he has written about 60 country songs for an album he hopes to release in the future.

While admitting it won’t be an easy task, Butler revealed he hopes to record 200 songs before narrowing down the final track list for his debut album.

“There’s so many people, and I’m one of them, that say, ‘Man, I can do that,’ and you really don’t know how hard it is to make a No. 1 song,” he said. said.

‘Humble yourself. It’s incredibly fun, I had a blast doing it. But let me tell you, it’s not easy.”

Butler, who spent the last five years with Miami, grew up in Tomball, Texas, a suburb of Houston. But he told it Rolling stone in 2023 that his love for the country genre began while studying at Marquette University in Milwaukee.

The 34-year-old went on to talk about how he saw himself in the same light as DJ Khaled when it comes to producing his album.

“(DJ Khaled) is an insanely talented individual,” Butler said. “To bring all these artists together and allow them to hold their egos and say, ‘Yo, look, this is what we’re trying to get done here,’ he’s mastered it.”

Music won’t be the first activity Butler gets involved in outside of basketball.

In 2020, Butler opened a makeshift coffee shop from his hotel room in the NBA bubble in Florida. ‘Bigface’ turned into a fully operational company after the pandemic when he turned his hobby into a coffee and clothing brand.

Butler also took part in fundraising at last year’s US Open, where he joined the ball team and scored successfully against Carlos Alcaraz.

After leading Miami to the NBA Finals last year, he remains the go-to player for the fifth-seeded Heat.

Butler is averaging 21.4 points, five rebounds and 4.4 assists per game as the Heat have a 24-16 record nearly halfway through the season.
