Observations from Saturday’s Jets camp:

That’s offensive

The offense performed well.

Both quarterbacks, Aaron Rodgers and Zach Wilson, were sharp and the offensive line opened holes in the running game, particularly for Zonovan Knight.

Wideout Corey Davis made the catch of the day, a diving grab of a bullet from Rodgers between multiple defenders during team drills.

Short game

Two trick plays didn’t work.

One was a flea flicker and the other was an option pass on which the ball was underthrown and receiver Mecole Hardman was picked off by safety Jordan Whitehead.

Tony Adams is the leader in the clubhouse to start at safety opposite Whitehead. Ashtyn Davis, the Jets’ third-round pick in the 2020 draft, flashed with a nice breakup of a Wilson pass over the middle. He’ll need a lot more plays like that to challenge Adams.

Rodgers report

In one of Rodgers’ best practices of camp, he went 8-for-12 and threw touchdown passes to receiver Allen Lazard and tight end Jeremy Ruckert.

Rodgers also took off and ran on one play, freezing defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers with a pump fake.

Afterwards, Rodgers had some fun with Franklin-Myers, talking some trash about the move.

Rodgers did come up limping at one point after he had his foot stepped on, but returned and showed no ill effects.

Injury report

Receiver Garrett Wilson (low ankle sprain) remained out.

Head coach Robert Saleh expects him to be back on Tuesday and to take part in the joint practices with the Panthers on Wednesday and Thursday.

Projected starting left tackle Duane Brown (shoulder; PUP list) is still a few weeks away.
