Eagles center Jason Kelce sees Sunday’s loss to the visiting San Francisco 49ers just like every other Philadelphian.
“We got knocked down,” he told his younger brother Travis on the couple’s weekly podcast, New Heights.
Jason didn’t attack anyone specifically and acknowledged that he personally failed to make two plays in the 42-19 loss, which could have ramifications heading into the postseason. “Our defense, I think it’s obviously not a great game for them,” Jason said after the 49ers gained 456 total yards while converting 8 of 11 third-down attempts. “They started hot. Had two three-and-outs to start. We went into the red zone and didn’t get any touchdowns.
“We’re going to go down early and score touchdowns instead of getting away with field goals on those first two possessions. We are fourteen ahead, I think the game is a little bit different,” he continued. “With the way they clicked on offense, the way they played, it was going to be tough.”
And while Jalen Hurts struggled to move the chains with the Eagles’ offense, the defense faced increasing pressure to contain Purdy, who finished with 314 yards and four touchdown passes for the game.
“We have to do a better job, in my opinion, as an offense to keep them off the field,” Jason said. “They’ve played a record number of snaps the last two games. In the history of the NFL, no team has played more snaps in two games than our defense. It’s not fair to them.
“You partly have yourself to blame for that,” he continued. “They had to leave the field on third down and make stops.
