Jackie 'O' Henderson and Gemma O'Neill reveal why they really went into business together – after launching Besties events company

Jackie ‘O’ Henderson revealed on Sunday the surprise reason she decided to launch her Besties business with close friend Gemma O’Neill.

The radio queen, 48, said the longtime pals noticed a lack of businesses helping people celebrate their close female friends – so decided to create one together.

‘There are all these options for other relationships in your life – romantic, etc – and we just felt there was a real gap in the market,’ she told The Daily Telegraph.

‘There were all these options out there to be a better leader or better person, and for women in particular, we felt like – why do we always have to do more, be more?

‘It’s exhausting. Where’s the option to just have fun as women, and just be playful and have more joy in our lives?’ she added.

Jackie noted the importance of women celebrating their close female friendships, so they designed Besties to make the experience easy and accessible.

Last week, Jackie revealed plans for her new business venture. 

On Wednesday the radio star dropped a bombshell about her first very high profile speaker for the events business’ debut.

Hollywood superstar Gwyneth Paltrow will help the 48-year-old launch Besties, Jackie revealed on The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

In a post to Henderson’s official Instagram account made around the same time, Jackie wrote that the Oscar winner was ‘coming to Sydney this October for an exclusive visit to the @bestiesau stage.’

Besties appears to be an event-based business which sells experiences for ‘best friends’ to create memories together.

The website said: ‘Besties is a space that gives you and your BFF the perfect opportunity to spend more time with each other and create additional memories together.’

Jackie O announced the launch on Instagram as well, saying she was ‘thrilled’ to be starting a new ‘side hustle’ with her best friend of 20 years. 

Alongside a reel of stunning professional photos the pair took on a beach, Jackie O said she and Gemma have been through every huge milestone together. 

‘Like any best friend duo, we’ve always dreamed of starting our own side hustle, and we’re so thrilled to share the news of our newest venture, Besties,’ she said. 

‘There are all these options for other relationships in your life – romantic, etc – and we just felt there was a real gap in the market,’ Jackie told The Daily Telegraph
