Renowned cinematographer, music video director, and television producer Jibril Blessing, popularly known as J Blessing, has hinted at moving on from his toxic relationship with singer Avril, which ended unceremoniously after she accused him of violence. He revealed that he has recently started seeing someone who he believes could be a true partner.
“For me, very soon I have started seeing there is a partner and she too has started seeing the same,” he hinted at a blossoming relationship.
Speaking at the launch of ‘The Bahati Empire’ reality show, J Blessing shared his views on relationships, explaining why he prefers a over a wife.
“It’s very good to have a partner in life. You know, we say ‘wife’ and make it look like a relationship should be a certain way. The difference is that everyone can have a wife, but not everyone can have a partner,” he remarked.
So, what qualities does J Blessing look for in a true partner.
“A partner is someone who believes in what you do. When you find someone who sees beyond the silly things you may do, then that’s a partner. But a wife—everyone can have a wife,” he explained.

Despite being a father to children with four women—Mwende Macharia, Chantelle, Avril, and Laika—J Blessing clarified that he has never been married.
He was once close to marrying Mwende Macharia. Despite meeting her parents in Diani, planning a wedding, and getting engaged, the couple did not make it to the altar. Mwende revealed they separated due to fundamental differences and his unwillingness to commit even though she was pregnant with his son, Champion Blessing.
When Mwende gave birth, J Blessing had moved on with singer Chantelle. The two launched their relationship by appearing hand-in-hand at the Groove Awards.
Mwende admits it was tough, especially after just welcoming her son, Champion Blessing.
The two have since reconciled and now have an amicable co-parenting relationship.
J Blessing’s relationship with Chantelle produced a son, who unfortunately passed away at around six months old due to health issues. The couple broke up soon after.
