‘It’s very new to us, the kids are happy,’- Maureen Waititu opens up about co-parenting with Frankie

Kenyan digital creator and lawyer Maureen Waititu has opened up about her improved relationship with controversial baby daddy Frankie Just Gym It, stating that they have found a way to co-parent happily for the sake of their children.

In an interview with Youtuber Lynn Ngugi, Maureen shared that they have recently started co-parenting and are focusing on what is best for their kids.

“It’s good. It’s very new to us. We recently started co-parenting, and I don’t know whether it is my place to say it is. We have been very careful not to make it about us, so we have been out there talking about it, but yes, we are co-parenting,” she revealed.

She expressed happiness that her children now have their father actively involved in their lives and stated that the worst is now behind them.

“The kids are happy to have their dad. I’m happy to see them with their dad, and the worst is behind,” she shared.

Maureen and Frankie parted ways about five years ago in a highly publicized and acrimonious split that led to Maureen battling depression and suicidal thoughts.

During the two-hour interview, Maureen shared her journey of dealing with the breakup and cyberbullying and how she managed to bounce back from the dark place she was in.

She emphasized the importance of standing her ground and holding onto her truth during the difficult times, viewing her challenges as not physical but rather spiritual.

“Whenever you are going through such a scenario, two things I did, sticking to my truth and really not fighting because these fights are not physical, they are spiritual. There was nothing normal about what I was going through, she noted.

Through her struggles, Maureen found solace in faith and believed that God was using her painful moments to send a message.

She embraced her obstacles positively, recognizing that life happens, and every day is an opportunity to grow and overcome challenges.

“When God decides to send a message, he will even use your most painful moments to do that, this is the year that made me who I am and the bigger message is being sent through whatever I went through. Nobody should make the mistake of thinking it’s a woiyee story. It’s life, life happens, and we are here to see another day,” she shared.

Maureen shared that during the challenging period, her health was deteriorating, and she even reached the point of contemplating suicide.

She revealed that she had to leave home and deal with the emotional turmoil that took a toll on her well-being, leading her to seek psychiatric help.

“We are here still thriving. I have not had time to properly reflect and loudly consistently talk about my journey,” Maureen shared.

The mother of two explained that her baby daddy’s involvement in another relationship, and expecting a baby with Corazon added to the pain of their breakup.

Maureen expressed that at the time, she couldn’t think about the future or predict that in two years, she would move on from that phase.

She shared that it was the suddenness of being alone and the subsequent events that followed, rather than the actual breakup, that broke her emotionally.

“Coz I was like wooh okay and they were very triggering, and I slipped into a very bad depression.” Maureen candidly revealed that her depression was so severe that she had thoughts of suicide,” she lamented.

Despite the immense challenges, the mother of one has said that she has chosen to be open about her struggles, showing strength in her vulnerability.

She also revealed that in her next relationship, she is looking for a man who is self-aware and able to build a friendship with her.
