Federica and Giuseppe, an Italian couple known on social media as My Trip to Naples, were stunned when their beach club bill in Ibiza exceeded the cost of their flights to the island. They spent a day at Cala Bassa Beach Club on Sant Josep beach, enjoying some drinks and relaxation.
Their bill totalled over €400, about £350. This included €40 (£34) for sun loungers, €160 (£137) for champagne, and an additional €200 (£172) on food, featuring seafood paella and Iberian ham. Their TikTok video of the day garnered over 723,000 views and 10,000 likes. Giuseppe commented on their surprise, stating they spent more on the beach club than their flights.
Followers on social media expressed their shock at the high prices. Comments ranged from complaints about the cost of travel to comparisons of past prices, with one person mentioning that the same experience cost no more than €50 a decade ago. Another user shared that they cancelled their beach trip due to the costs, describing the sunbeds as crowded and lacking sunlight.
Conversely, some pointed out that enjoying Ibiza’s beaches doesn’t require lavish spending. One commenter noted that it’s possible to visit the same beach without paying for sunbeds and umbrellas bills, suggesting a more economical approach by bringing a towel and sitting on the sand.
In a different story, Henry Moores from Macclesfield, Cheshire, decided to avoid flight costs by walking 1,200 miles to Ibiza. He aimed to party at Ocean Beach Ibiza, owned by Wayne Lineker, the brother of Gary Lineker. After messaging Wayne on Instagram in February and receiving a reply, Henry began his journey. Wayne later shared a video of them meeting in London and promised to meet Henry in Ibiza, a promise he fulfilled.
