CNN correspondent Larry Madowo found himself in an amusing situation after receiving a bold marriage proposal from a 24-year-old admirer.

The young woman, identified as Bonareri, sent Madowo an email titled “Request to get married,” in which she expressed her desire to marry the journalist without delay and promised explanations afterwards.

Bonareri’s straightforward message read: “Good day Larry, No wasting word, I am twenty-four years old, Kenyan and want you to marry me. Everything will be explained later.”

Her bold proposal caught the attention of Madowo, who humorously shared a screengrab of the email on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, October 19, 2024, accompanied by his reaction: “Everything will be explained later” 🤣.

Madowo, 37, seemed both entertained and intrigued by the unusual proposal.

However, the playful offer did not end there. Nelson Havi, the former president of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), chimed in on social media, offering to contribute to the dowry if Madowo decides to marry Bonareri.

Havi offered to give Madowo 10 cows for his dowry and also to serve as his best man.

“Accept the offer, Larry. I will donate 10 cows for the nyombo and be your best man. We need you off the shelves,” Havi tweeted, encouraging the journalist to consider the proposal.

Madowo, who has been romantically linked to fellow journalist Edith Kimani for some time, has yet to comment on Havi’s offer.

The two international journalists have neither confirmed nor denied rumours about their relationship, though they have frequently been seen packing on the PDA, fueling ongoing speculation about their status as a couple.

Whether Madowo will take Havi up on his generous dowry offer or continue to laugh off Bonareri’s daring proposal remains to be seen.
