Jazz musician and preacher Joseph Onyango alias Apostle Hellon has claimed that he taught former news anchor Esther Arunga how to pronounce words correctly and also helped her to lose weight. Speaking in an interview with Mwafreeka on his Iko Nini podcast, Hellon alleged that before Arunga joined KTN, she had a big body.
Back then, KTN had a policy that female TV anchors should be slim. Arunga reporteldy approached Hellon and told him that she was planning to become a news anchor but she had a big body.
Hellon allegedly trained her to lose weight. ” Many people don’t know that I am the one who helped Arunga to lose weight. She was really big and wanted to cut down. Those days at KTN, you needed to be slim,” Hellon said. After losing weight, Arunga was promoted to become a prime time anchor.
He also trained her on communication because of his vast knowledge in English. He taught her to pronounce English words correctly.
Hellon further clarified that Arunga was still a member of the Finger of God that he founded even when she was at the top of her career and brought alot of media people to the church.
