Justin Thomas got caught on the hot mic throwing a dig at recent U.S. Open champ Wyndham Clark during the Thursday’s Travelers Championship opening round.

“Guy wins one f––ing U.S. Open and I got to mark it from 80 yards?” Thomas joked while he, Clark and Max Homa were on the 12th hole, their third of the day.

While Thomas and Homa didn’t make the cut for the 2023 U.S. Open, they’re grouped with Clark –– who clinched the major win by a single stroke, outlasting Rory McIlroy in the final round –– for the Travelers Championship.

Thomas, 30, hit first at the 12th hole at TPC River Highlands. Clark, 29, followed after Thomas, on the short par-4, hit near the pin.

While the recent victor was lining up to hit his wedge shot, he asked Thomas to mark his ball so it wouldn’t potentially affect Clark’s plan once it got on the green.

Clark’s ball was nearly 74 yards out, and that’s when Thomas made the comment.

The group was seen laughing after the punchline was delivered.

Golf Digest posted about the interaction on Instagram with the comment “JT isn’t letting the major victory go to Wyndham Clark’s head.”

Thomas commented on the post, adding a laughing emoji to his reply.

“Mark it from 80, then move my mark on the putt… just couldn’t get out of your way could I @wyndhamclark.”

Thomas later tweeted about the interaction, saying: “Just poking fun at a friend… we had a blast today. I wanted him to hear that.”

Despite the joking nature, the PGA tour took the video clip down from Twitter.

Just a day earlier, Clark said on SiriusXM that he was “kind of pissed off” while thinking fans and players weren’t giving him a chance to win the U.S. Open, specifically citing a tweet from Thomas in which he mentioned Xander Schauffele, Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler – but not Clark.

The Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Conn., will span four days, ending June 25.
