Hochul’s open eyes on migrants: Letters to the Editor — Sept. 24, 2023

The Issue: Gov. Hochul’s support for ending the “right to shelter” to address New York’s migrant crisis.

Will wonders never cease (“Hochul sees the light,” Sept. 22)?

Is it possible that Gov. Hochul has finally seen the light in coming to the realization that New York City cannot house literally the entire world?

Was it the Oracle of Delphi that led her to this conclusion — or just the latest polls?

While she’s late to the party on this issue, there are plenty of other inane policies of hers to go around.

One in particular is work authorizations for illegal immigrants. All this will accomplish will be to incentivize other illegal immigrants to come here. This will make it harder for American citizens to compete for blue-collar jobs. This will result in lower wages for Americans.

If you think there’s something wrong with this picture, then it’s time to vote the Democrats out of office. If the Democrats continue to run our city and state, the madness will continue.

Gov. Hochul has just now declared the migrant crisis “absolutely unsustainable.”

What took her so long? She also stated that “the rest of the country needs to step up.”

Unfortunately, it is not the rest of the country that needs to step up, but rather the leader of her party, President Biden, who needs to address the free-flowing, open border — or perhaps the next in command, Vice President Kamala Harris, as she is the alleged border czar.

And while Hochul now seems willing to speak up, she might want to take a look at some other Democratic policies that have borne “unsustainable” results, such as sanctuary status, rising crime, the stench of pot everywhere, addicts peppered throughout the streets — the list goes on.

It is interesting how, as Election Day gets closer, Hochul decides to finally stand up for New Yorkers.

“Hochul sees the light”? The only thing Hochul “sees” is her popularity going downhill and the money the state is losing.

She was all so proud about being head of a sanctuary state when she thought the feds were sending a check to pay for it. Now that it’s on her, it’s a problem — typical Democrat. As long as someone else is paying, give everyone anything they want.

Unfortunately, it’s a little too late. The damage is done.

Not only is the greatest city in the world ruined, but people are leaving in droves, and you can blame Biden, the governor and the mayor for letting this happen.

You liberal Democrats who voted these unqualified clowns in office get what you deserve. Let’s hope you open your eyes and realize the Democrats are only out for themselves and could care less what happens because it doesn’t affect their lives.

Just think financially how much better you were two years ago — there were lower food, oil and gas prices, and you were not footing the bill for the migrants who are coming into this country and getting everything handed to them for free.

What a slap in the face to the American public. Let’s take care of our own before we take care of anyone else.

It looks like the socialist ideals adored by New York Democrats have run snack into the wall of reality.

The liberals all gave lip service to the grand notion of a sanctuary city, not realizing that the misguided policies of their president would do them in.

New York cannot afford to house the world, but Biden doesn’t care. Now even our feckless governor has been forced to speak out against the president.

Hochul should be very careful in her approach to the migrant issue. Independent thought is not valued by her party.

I’m sure thousands of New Yorkers will still vote for Biden — despite the immense damage he’s caused and continues to cause to our city with the whole migrant issue — only because he is not former President Donald Trump.
