Harry Kane sparked injury fears among England’s ranks on Saturday after crashing into the post during Bayern Munich’s 5-2 win over Darmstadt.

The 30-year-old scored a record-breaking 31st league goal of the season and Jamal Musiala added two more in their 5-2 defeat to the home side.

The win moved the reigning champions within seven points of leaders Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, but Kane’s injury was the main talking point.

The England captain collided with the post in the 82nd minute of the match after trying to hammer home the rebound from Musiala’s shot that hit the crossbar.

The German manager has said that the club are beginning to attempt to diagnose the extent of Kane’s injury.

“He collided with the post and sprained his ankle a little bit; his ankle was frozen. There is still no diagnosis, we have to wait. I hope it’s nothing bad’

The England international’s header took his league tally to 31, more than any player has scored in his first Bundesliga season.

It is also the best in personal competition for Kane, who scored between Musiala’s two goals but was taken off injured after sliding into the post late in the match.

Meanwhile, substitute Serge Gnabry added their fourth goal in the 74th and Mathys Tel scored the fifth in stoppage time before Darmstadt’s Oscar Vilhelmsson pulled a goal back. Darmstadt had taken a 28 minute lead with Tim Skarke.
