Harry Kane has had SIX managers sacked in just over four years as Thomas Tuchel is shown the exit door at Bayern Munich (so does Gareth Southgate now have to watch out?!)

Harry Kane has had to sack six managers since November 2019 after Bayern Munich confirmed on Wednesday that Thomas Tuchel will leave the club at the end of the season.

Bayern have lost their last three games and with their season threatening to unravel, the club’s board have opted to announce Tuchel’s departure before the summer in a bid to end speculation over his future.

Tuchel will remain in his post for the time being, but Bayern’s search for their next manager is already underway, with Xabi Alonso, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Zinedine Zidane and Antonio Conte all linked to the job.

The wait for a new manager has become a familiar feeling for Kane, who has seen several high-profile names come and go at regular intervals in recent years.

It all started with Mauricio Pochettino’s shock departure to Tottenham in 2019, just five months after leading the club to the Champions League final.

Spurs lost to Liverpool in Madrid and failed to recover from that setback the following season, as they dropped to fourteenth in the table and lost 7–2 to Bayern in the Champions League to avoid Pochettino’s fate. seal.

A few hours later, Jose Mourinho was appointed as Pochettino’s successor and promised to help Kane ‘explode’ on the world stage.

He was true to his word as Kane enjoyed a prolific spell under the two-time Champions League winning coach, scoring 45 goals in 62 appearances, but Mourinho stayed at Tottenham for less than 18 months.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy relieved Mourinho of his duties just days before the team were due to play Manchester City in the 2021 Carabao Cup final. Tottenham lost at Wembley, with Kane unable to inspire his boyhood club to victory.

Heading towards the end of the 2020/21 season, Spurs finally signed Nuno Espirito Santo after a lengthy search that saw them miss out on a number of more attractive targets.

Kane scored seven times in 14 games under Nuno, but the football was poor and Spurs were quick to act after a dismal 3-0 home defeat to Manchester United.

Conte was the next to arrive and it looked like Spurs were finally onto something special as he led the north London side to the Champions League in his first season back.

That was as good as it got, however, as Tottenham’s 2022-23 season spiraled out of control and Conte was given his marching orders last March after a stunning tirade about his players and the club’s mentality. Kane scored 43 goals in 75 games under Conte but could not keep him in business.

Spurs inexplicably turned to Conte’s assistant, Christian Stellini, to guide them until the end of the season, and that always seemed unlikely.

Stellini’s short tenure was an unmitigated disaster, with a 6-1 defeat at Newcastle proving to be the last straw. Three goals in four games was a decent return for Kane, but Stelling was never going to be the solution.

After five and a half years with Pochettino at the helm, Kane saw five different managers dismissed in just over three years at Tottenham.

He was also at the club when Harry Redknapp, Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood moved, but was not a key player at the time.

The England captain must have thought that a move to Bayern to work with Tuchel would bring about a change in fortunes, but that is not the case.

Kane’s numbers under Tuchel simply cannot be faulted. His tally of 29 goals in 30 games is remarkable, especially for a player in his first season abroad after joining a new league.

But Kane’s form has not translated into more success for Bayern. In fact, they have become less formidable during this period.

They are eight points behind Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, with everything to do with their last-16 Champions League clash with Lazio after losing the first leg 1-0.

A first season without success in more than a decade is now a real possibility for Bayern, and it just so happens to be Kane’s first year at the club.

Kane has had very little luck when it comes to managers, but should England boss Gareth Southgate be worried?

The pressure is mounting on Southgate’s England to deliver results at this summer’s European Championships after several near misses in recent major tournaments.

The Three Lions reached the final of the last European Championship and reached the semi-finals of the World Cup six years ago, but still have to wait for a major trophy.

Southgate could walk away this summer after eight years in the dugout anyway, but the decision could be taken out of his hands if England flop in Germany.

Kane will be desperate to ensure Southgate avoids the plunder by leading England to glory.

However, more tournament woes could see the FA wield the axe, leaving Kane managerless once again.
