Harris caught on hot mic admitting need for male voters support

During a campaign stop at the Trak Houz Bar and Grill, Vice President Kamala Harris inadvertently admitted the need to bolster support among male voters. On Saturday in Kalamazoo, she conversed with Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, seemingly unaware of the recording equipment around them. Harris, 60, mentioned to Whitmer, “We need to move ground among men,” while sharing drinks, as shown in footage shared on social media.

Upon noticing the recording devices, Harris expressed surprise, pointing around and stating, “Oh, we have microphones in here listening to everything. I didn’t realise that.” Whitmer responded humorously, “You’ll bleep my F words.” Laughing, Harris added, “We just told all the family secrets. S–t.”

Some social media users speculated that the “hot mic” incident might have been a staged joke, given the presence of microphones clipped to their clothing, along with boom mics, cameras, and reporters present for the photo opportunity.

Nevertheless, the campaign recognises the gap among male voters. Recent polling by New York Times/Siena College, released less than two weeks before Election Day, shows former President Donald Trump leading Harris 55% to 41% among men. Conversely, Harris holds a slight edge among women, with 54% compared to Trump’s 42%.

Conducted from 20 to 23 October with 2,516 registered voters, the poll has a margin of error of ±2.2 percentage points. It also indicates the 2024 election remains highly competitive, with both Harris and Trump receiving 48% support among likely voters, as early voting continues across many states.

The Harris campaign did not respond to a request for comment.
