On Tuesday, a senior official from Hamas stated that the group is evaluating new proposals from mediators to conclude the conflict in Gaza. Sami Abu Zuhri, in a televised address, emphasised that any agreement must include a total withdrawal of Israeli military forces from the Gaza Strip. The group remains open to arrangements that alleviate the hardships faced by the people in Gaza, bring about a lasting ceasefire, and ensure the complete departure of Israeli forces.
Zuhri also highlighted that any deal should terminate the Israeli blockade of the coastal region, allow unrestricted humanitarian aid, facilitate the rebuilding of Gaza, and arrange a swap of Israeli hostages in Gaza for Palestinians held in Israeli detention.
His remarks indicated no shift in the group’s existing demands. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu maintains that the conflict will only cease once Hamas is dismantled.
