The government has announced the sale of 4,888 affordable housing units spread across the country.
The units, spread across 21 projects in the country, entail studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments classified into three categories.
According to the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, the units are categorised into social housing, affordable housing and affordable middle class housing depending on income levels.
Social housing will be allocated to people earning less than Ksh20,000 per month, who are also eligible for deposit assistance. On the other hand, affordable housing will be reserved for Kenyans with a monthly income between Ksh20,000 and Ksh149,000 while affordable middle-class housing is meant for people earning over Ksh149,000 per month.
“We are to announce the launch of the sale of affordable housing units, reaffirming our commitment to providing quality homes for all Kenyans,” the government says on the Boma Yangu platform.
