Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs look exhausted while filming scenes for new movie The Salt Path

Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs have been spotted filming for their new movie The Salt Path at Holywell Bay in Cornwall on Monday.

The Crown actress, 54, and the Harry Potter actor, 60, appeared to be struggling as they walked through the sand, before sharing a passionate kiss on set.

They both donned hiking gear, carrying bulky backpacks and wore heavy-duty walking shoes.

Gillian wore her blonde tresses pulled back in a messy ponytail, while looking low-key in a blue t-shirt and cycling shorts.

Jason looked casual as he donned a khaki green top and sported a full beard as he got into character.

The Salt Path is the film adaptation of the best-selling novel of the same name by Raynor Winn.

It tells the profound true story of Raynor and her husband Moth, who decided to make a 630-mile trek along the Cornish, Devon and Dorset coastline.

The couple sadly became homeless in their fifties after a business deal with a friend went wrong and they lost the Welsh farm where they had brought up their two children.

Their situation was then worsened when Moth was diagnosed with corticobasal degeneration, a rare and incurable degenerative brain disease.

They decided to walk the South West Coast Path, living on bare essentials with only a tent to shelter in.

The couple soon rediscovered their happiness, while Moth’s condition even improved as they made the challenging journey.

Raynor decided to write an account of their story, originally meant only for her husband as a present for his birthday.

Her novel The Salt Path was published in 2018 and soon skyrocketed to the top of the bestseller lists and sold more than 1.5 million copies.

It would go on to be shortlisted for the Costa Book Awards and the Wainwright Prize, and won the inaugural RSL Christopher Bland Prize.

Writing for The Mail On Sunday earlier this year , Raynor said their journey on The Salt Path had left them feeling more connected to nature.

She added: ‘And somehow, without us noticing, the anguish and despair had gone too, left behind on the many headlands we’d crossed.’

She wrote that she and Moth had not only ‘survived’ their homeless experience, but had become ‘stronger for it’.

Raynor continued: ‘We all have the ability to change and embrace a new future. We just have to act.’

The film adaptation stars Gillian and Jason as Raynor and Moth and will be directed by Marianne Elliott.

Gillian tweeted that she ‘couldn’t wait to get started’ on the project, calling the novel an ‘amazing book’.
