George Conway slams Trump over $83.3M E. Jean Carroll defamation verdict – as renowned critic of ex-president claims he has ‘no conscience’ and is ‘sick, bad man’

Conservative lawyer George Conway went on a wild tirade about Donald Trump, saying he is “sick, evil and sadistic,” hours after the former president was ordered to pay an astonishing $83.3 million in damages to E. Jean Carroll.

Conway, a renowned critic of Trump, excoriated the former president when he appeared CNN is the source Friday evening, hours after a jury announced their decision to award writer Carroll nearly $60 million more in damages than she sought.

The prominent attorney said of Trump, “He cannot control himself because he is a deeply disturbed, deeply morally deprived human being who has no conscience, has no morals, has no empathy, has no remorse and is sadistic.”

The spicy comments came after host Kaitlan Collins asked whether the verdict would prompt Trump to be more careful when discussing Carroll and the case.

Collins asked, “Do you think this will stop him from talking about her?” to which Conway replied, “Maybe for a few hours.” Maybe for a few days.’

Carroll convinced the jury last year that Trump sexually assaulted her in a dressing room at Bergdorf Goodman department store in the late 1990s, winning $5 million in damages and defamation after saying she was a liar.

When Trump repeated his insults after the first trial, she sued again for defamation, and on Friday, after an ill-tempered two-week trial, the jury took less than three hours to determine the amount awarded. Their judgment was delivered in 2023.

Conway, the soon-to-be ex-husband of former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway, said he convinced Carroll at a cocktail party in 2019 that she had a solid case against Trump and introduced lawyers to her.

The lawyer said Friday that the astonishing $83.3 million verdict would not stop Trump from attacking Carroll and doing “crazy things.”

He said, “We’ve seen it before. We’ve seen him say and do outrageous things. Early in his presidency we saw him say the most insane things.

“And then he stopped it for a few hours, read it from a teleprompter and they said, ‘Oh, this is the new Donald Trump.’ Well, there is no new Donald Trump.”

Conway, one of Trump’s most prominent critics, didn’t stop there; he continued to label Trump as “sadistic” and claimed he has “mental disorders.” “(Trump) is sadistic, as we saw at the trial and the jurors saw right before their eyes at the trial – that he had nothing but contempt for the woman he had so often raped, defamed and slandered,” Conway said. said.

Two legal experts said Trump’s disrespectful behavior in court and the belligerence of his lawyers likely turned the jury against him, leading them to demand he pay a staggering $83.3 million in damages.

Chris Mattei, a defamation attorney who won a $1.5 billion jury verdict in the Alex Jones defamation lawsuit, said jurors often respond poorly to defendants who appear arrogant and rude.

“These are ordinary people who follow the rules,” he said Business insider. “And then they see someone come into the courtroom and basically give the middle finger to the law? No, average people don’t want that.’

Mattei said the amount awarded was an indication that the jury believed no one should be above the law.

“You can’t allow someone who is just flaunting the law to be admitted in principle,” Mattei said. “That’s not how our system works.”

Conway called the former president a “sick man, a bad man,” and emphasized that Trump’s allies with the Republican Party are well aware of these qualities.

‘They know who he is. They know he’s a bad man. They know he’s a sick man. They talk about his mental deficiencies, his mental disorders. They talk about what a pathological liar he is.

Conway accused certain figures within the Republican Party of lying and covering up for a sexual predator, including Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley, who said of the case on Tuesday: “I haven’t looked at this one, but look, if he’s found guilty, then he pays the price.’

“When someone asked him to go on the record to talk about it, ‘Oh, no comment. I didn’t see the tweet,” Conway said.

“They say, as a presidential candidate recently did, ‘I haven’t been following the case,’ or something like that. And they all lie. Lying to protect a pathological liar,” he added.

“It’s better for them in the long run to tell the truth and admit that they covered up for a sexual predator, a criminal, a thief, a man who doesn’t deserve to hold office.”

Conway has been one of Trump’s biggest critics, publicly mocking the president on Twitter while courting his wife Kellyanne, who filed for divorce last year.

Trump sent a mocking message after the couple announced their divorce last year: “Congratulations to Kellyanne Conway on her DIVORCE from her crazy husband, Mr. Kellyanne Conway.”

Conway responded at the time by saying, “I look forward to seeing you in New York next month at the E. Jean trial! Hugs and kisses.’

Kellyanne, 56, became a Trump adviser in 2016 and served as campaign manager. While she worked endlessly for the president, her husband – who co-founded the Lincoln Project – criticized the president on social media.

Their political differences were addressed in Kellyanne’s 2022 memoir Here’s The Deal, in which she revealed she viewed his criticism as a betrayal of their marriage.

She deemed his tweets as ‘cheating’ and it was revealed that Trump’s daughter Ivanka had suggested the couple go to therapy.

The divorce has not slowed his criticism, as he has been active on X, formerly Twitter, criticizing the former leader, including retweeting a message questioning the president’s mental health.

Trump himself had once called Conway a “stone-cold loser and husband from hell.”
