Gatundu man in agony after cutting off his testicles

A man from Wanugu village in Gatundu South is agonizing after cutting off his testicles using a blunt panga.

The 42-year-old man who is recuperating at Gatundu Level Five Hospital says the incident happened after his attempt to stop consuming damaging alcohol failed.

“My problems did not start today; they started a long time ago. Every time I overindulge in too much alcohol and I try to withdraw, I find myself suffering from this and the other,” he told journalists while at the hospital.

The man who separated from his wife and three children says that on Saturday, November 23, 2024, after trying to withdraw from harmful alcohol, he became furious and decided to commit suicide.

“Before I did this, I was at my brother’s place. I wrestled him and went straight to my house where I wanted to die by suicide. Upon entering the house, I could not find a rope and that is how I became thoughtful – I took a panga and started cutting off my private parts,” he narrated.

“I am lucky because the weapon I used was not sharp, if it was then things would have been worse,” he added.

While attributing his woes to the uptake of alcohol, the man who called on clerics to pray for him stated that whenever he is sober, he is ever at peace.

“Only clerics can help me now. I cut off my testicles but I left the main thing. My sisters wanted to stop me and even guided me but I heard none of their advice. I am now regretting it,” he said.

He called on drunkards to stop the uptake of alcohol saying it has no economic value save for disastrous consequences that he is now grappling with.

A theatre layout form seen by K24 Digital indicated that the man had undergone a major scrotal exploration, a surgical procedure that involves examining the testicles through an incision in the scrotum.

Our efforts to reach medics at the hospital to comment on the status of the man were futile.
