Fans are loving ScHoolboy Q’s new album Blue Lips, which has plenty of reasons for garnering this praise. Creative production, a versatile tracklist, balanced topical matter and deliveries… plus a whole lot of great or notable bars. Freddie Gibbs, one of a few standout features, has these in spades on the cut “oHio,” one of the most instrumentally progressive and evolutionary records on the LP. What’s more is that this reignited one of his most infamous, innocuous, but nonetheless hilarious beefs in the rap world. As the Indiana MC closed out his closing verse on the song, he took aim at one DJ Akademiks.

“Smack a n***a in his mouth for the loot / If I ever see that p***y n***a Akademiks, I’ma catch another lawsuit,” Freddie Gibbs raps on “oHio.” For those unaware, the two have a long-standing beef stemming from social media shots at one another, although things never really got that serious. Still, this is one of the first instances, if not the very first time, that he addresses DJ Akademiks on wax. Sure, the Big Boss Rabbit previously referenced the streamer and media personality on an L.A. Leakers radio freestyle, but this is an entirely different beast.

What’s more is that even ScHoolboy Q acknowledges how great Freddie Gibbs’ verse is, although this praise has nothing to do with the DJ Akademiks diss. “U Lokey wasHed me 2 and I don’t know How to feel about dat…” Q tweeted, with Freddie responding with “We make classics bro congrats on the album glad to be a part of it [fingers crossed emoji].” Again, the least notable part of this verse is the Ak diss; it’s just a very solid verse overall. Along with “BACK TO ME” off Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s Vultures 1, the 41-year-old is stacking up some incredible guest spots this year.

Meanwhile, it seems like he will ignore another one of his notable rap beefs, but this one popped up recently. JPEGMAFIA dissed the “Thuggin'” spitter online despite being Vultures collaborators, and the latter responded in a hilariously unbothered manner. Let’s see if the former Everyday Struggle host has the same level of indifference with this new diss. For more news and the latest updates on Freddie Gibbs and DJ Akademiks, log back into HNHH.
