Firetruck plows through furniture shop on Long Island, injuring 4

NEW YORK — A fire truck plowed through the facade of a furniture store on New York’s Long Island on Friday, injuring four people and destroying much of the building’s exterior.

A store employee and three firefighters in the truck were hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening, a Rockville Center police spokesperson said.

Video shared on social media shows the truck swerving to avoid another vehicle and then crashing into the corner of the furniture repair shop just before 11:30 a.m.

The crash left piles of rocks on the sidewalk outside the store. A photo showed the front half of the truck inside the store.

Local officials were on site Friday afternoon to secure the one-story building.

According to a police spokesperson, the truck was responding to a call at another location at the time of the crash.

A telephone message left at the furniture store was not answered.
