A tragic incident unfolded in Sukhothai when a father shot his two sons following a family altercation with his wife, resulting in the death of the younger child and leaving the elder in critical condition.

The father, identified as Danai attempted to harm himself following the shooting. The event took place in a village in Ban Na Subdistrict, Si Samrong District, Sukhothai Province. Both children, along with their father, were initially rushed to Si Sangkhar Hospital for urgent medical attention.

According to a Facebook post by Si Samrong Rescue Unit, the younger son succumbed to his injuries, while the elder son was transferred to Phutthachinarat Hospital in Phitsanulok for further treatment.

The rescue team indicated that the father’s violent actions were reportedly triggered by his wife taking their two-month-old baby to live elsewhere.

Danai’s Facebook account showed a series of distressing posts before the incident, where he expressed feelings of exhaustion and despair. His last post was a selfie of himself with his two sons, eerily captioned, “We will be together.”

The eldest son’s condition remains critical, with doctors at Phutthachinarat Hospital working tirelessly to stabilise him. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover the full circumstances leading up to this heartbreaking incident, reported KhaoSod.

This tragic event underscores the immense pressures and mental health struggles that can lead to such devastating outcomes. The community is now coming together to support the surviving family members, hoping to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
