The internet is buzzing with the news of Normand Léveillé’s health condition. Léveillé, a former professional ice hockey player, enjoyed a brief but impressive stint in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Boston Bruins. He played as a left winger and made his NHL debut in the 1986-87 season. However, a brain aneurysm abruptly ended his promising career when he was just 19.

Although years have passed since the incident, online discussions about Léveillé’s accident are still prevalent. The former hockey player has since kept a low profile, away from public scrutiny, leading many to speculate about his current state of health.

Léveillé’s accident occurred on October 23, 1982, during a game between the Vancouver Canucks and the Bruins. Initially, he felt unwell and was later diagnosed with a brain aneurysm, a condition that involves a weak or thin spot on an artery in the brain that balloons out, filling with blood.

This bulging aneurysm can strain the nerves or brain tissue and may rupture, causing bleeding into the surrounding tissue. Léveillé experienced dizziness and shoulder pains after the first period of the game. He lost consciousness while trainers were assisting him and was rushed to a nearby hospital where the diagnosis was made.

Léveillé’s health condition has garnered significant public attention. Despite the life-altering incident, he has devoted his life to helping others facing similar challenges through therapy. He founded and presides over the Centre Normand-Léveillé in Drummondville, Quebec, a facility located in the Centre-du-Québec region.

In addition, his story has been documented in Un arrêt en plein vol, a book by Thérèse Desjardins published in 2005. The Boston Bruins recently honoured the Lunch Pail AC at their Centennial Era celebration, an event that had Léveillé leading the ceremonial puck drop alongside another former Bruin, Ray Bourque.
