Former Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa was on Saturday, July 20, 2024, booed while addressing residents of Kilifi County after she hinted at a cabinet comeback, following her dismissal on July 11, 2024.
Jumwa received hostile feedback from her audience after stating that she was at peace with President William Ruto’s decision to relieve her of her duties and stating that she was open to making a comeback if called upon.
“William Ruto does not need anyone to root for Aisha Jumwa and if it so pleases him to say that I will be among the cabinet secretaries and continue, we the people of Kilifi shall say Amen, and if he says I should should rest, we shall also say Amen because the Bible requires us to be thankful in every situation,” Jumwa noted.
Six CSs retained
The former CS seeks to join a list of six previous Cabinet Secretaries who have since been reappointed by Ruto to the chagrin of protesters who have vowed to carry on with the demos on Tuesday, July 24, 2024.
The other old faces recycled back into government are former Lands CS Alice Wahome, former Interior CS Kithure Kindiki, former Energy CS Davis Chirchir, former Environment CS Soipan Tuya and former Defence CS Aden Duale.
The new faces in Ruto’s cabinet are Debra Mlongo (Health), Julius Ogamba (Education), Andrew Karanja (Agriculture and Livestock Development), Eric Muriithi (Water) and Margaret Ndungu (ICT).

A section of Kenyans have expressed dissatisfaction with Ruto’s decision to nominate the six former cabinet secretaries in light of a TIFA poll which suggested that 90 per cent of the government supporters endorsed the sacking of the CSs.
The high number of respondents supporting the dismissal of Cabinet Secretaries suggests a perceived disconnect between the actions of the fired CSs and the general expectations of their supporters.
In the Central region, 73 per cent of the respondents supported the dissolution of the cabinet while 22 per cent were opposed to it, the coast region expressed the least support at 53 per cent, the Eastern region at 68 per cent, Nairobi at 74 per cent, North Eastern at 71 per cent, Nyanza at 67 per cent, Rift Valley at 64 per cent and Western at 69 per cent.
