The theme for International Youth Day 2024 is “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development.”
This theme continues a tradition of focusing on pressing issues for young p****e, following themes such as “Green Skills for Youth” in 2023 and “Intergenerational Solidarity” in 2022.
The 2024 theme is “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development.
In recognition of this important day, several Kenyan politicians took to social media to share messages aimed at inspiring and motivating the youth. Here are some highlights:
Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary:
Mudavadi spoke about the bright future that lies ahead for the youth and their potential to build a prosperous nation. He stated:
“As we celebrate International Youth Day, I join our young p****e in Kenya and around the world in recognizing the bright future that lies ahead, driven by their active engagement with the issues that shape their lives. Kenya’s young men and women have consistently shown that they possess the potential to build a prosperous nation, demonstrating a deep commitment to the well-being of our country. United Nations data reveals that ‘half of the p****e on our planet are 30 or younger.’
“With their numbers, energy, and potential, if our youth are equipped with the knowledge and opportunities they need to thrive, they can play a transformative role in shaping the g****l economic landscape. This year’s theme aligns perfectly with President William Ruto’s vision of establishing digital hubs across the nation, ensuring that digital access becomes a powerful avenue for job creation and inclusive growth.
“Just last week, thanks to President Ruto’s efforts, Meta (the parent company of Facebook) announced new features that enable Kenyan content creators to earn revenue from short-form videos through advertising. With their energy, enthusiasm, and determination, all our young p****e need are the opportunities to flourish. As the Kenya Kwanza government, this remains our unwavering commitment.”
Kivutha Kibwana, Former Makueni Governor:
Kibwana reminded the youth of their importance to the continent:
“As Kenyan youth, you have shown that your voice, determination, and resilience as 70% of the population matter, and you are a primary partner in the realization of good governance, justice, equal rights, equitable economy, and general development. Mother Africa depends on you.”
Kipchumba Murkomen:
Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports Murkomen reaffirmed his commitment to supporting youth-led initiatives:
“On this International Youth Day, I reaffirm my commitment to supporting youth-led initiatives such as NYOTA (National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement), the National Youth Council, and others that aim to enhance the livelihoods of our young p****e and propel our nation to new heights.
“Themed ‘From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,’ this year’s celebrations align with the Digital Superhighway initiative under our BETA Agenda, acknowledging the crucial role of youth in shaping Kenya’s digital future. By focusing on Climate Action, Agriculture, Health, Governance, and the Creative Industry, we shall engage young p****e, ensuring that they are informed, empowered, and ready to drive national development.”

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM):
The ODM party conveyed an inspiring message to the youth:

Milicent Omanga, Politician:
Omanga expressed pride in the youth, describing them as “gallant”: “I’m delighted to celebrate this year’s International Youth Day with the gallant youth of Kenya. The country is so proud of you. Leo mkipatana na mimi muanguke nayo!”
