Erling Haaland was asked for his shirt at half-time by a BSC Young Boys player in an unusual twist on football etiquette – and his response was telling.

Captain Mohamed Ali Camara approached the Manchester City striker before they walked into the tunnel and asked for his shirt.

Haaland replied: “You can’t do this,” but handed the defender his shirt before they went their separate ways.

Often players change shirts full-time, but in recent years it is not so common for players to ask for such a memento from an opponent mid-match.

He had already scored once as Pep Guardiola’s men went into half-time 2-0 down, but he scored a stunner after the break to make it 3-0, which was the final result.

“You should ask him for his jersey next,” TNT Sports co-commentator Ally McCoist joked after scoring a finish into the top corner.

Camara marked Haaland during his time on the pitch, but he was probably happy to withdraw after his two goals.

With a demanding schedule ahead, Haaland was substituted on the hour mark for compatriot Oscar Bobb.

City’s next three games are against Chelsea – fresh from a 4-1 win over Tottenham – Liverpool and RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
