Jeremy Piven has called out Australian actress Melissa George for refusing to talk about her time on Home and Away.

The actor, 58, appeared on 2Day FM’s breakfast show Hughesy, Ed & Erin on Thursday when co-host Erin Molan asked him about his breakout role as Ari Gold in Entourage.

‘Some people play these iconic roles early in their careers and then don’t like to talk about them. Like Melissa George is an example,” she said.

‘She’s an Australian actress who starred in Home and Away for years but refuses to talk about it. You clearly don’t have that attitude. You still love the character and enjoy talking to fans about Ari, right?” she asked.

Jeremy replied, “Well, Melissa George needs to calm down. I have to go to her house and give her a little TED talk about gratitude.”

In 2012, Melissa was upset when The Morning Show hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies played clips of her on Home and Away, asking about her time on the show.

News Corp reported at the time that Melissa had threatened to leave the set if her time on Home and Away was mentioned.

“She kept saying she’s had so many bigger roles since Home and Away that it was offensive to talk about – she even said she was going to bill Seven for unintentionally promoting it through the media,” a source said to The Daily Telegraph.

Melissa broke her silence on the incident in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald in November that year, explaining that she would not be coming back to Australia for a while due to the stress local media interviews were causing her.

‘I don’t need any more credibility from my country, I just want them all to be quiet. “If they don’t have anything intelligent to say, please don’t talk to me again,” she said.

“I’d rather have a croissant and some espresso in Paris or go for a walk with my French bulldog in New York City.”

Melissa played the role of Angel Parrish on Home and Away from 1993 to 1996 and made her big screen debut in the United States in the 1998 film Dark City.

She also appeared in 2001’s Mulholland Drive and 2005’s Derailed.
