England have won the Under-20 Six Nations after beating France in their last match.

Just 24 hours before the senior team attempted to win an unlikely title in Lyon, England’s youngsters staged a sensational comeback to lift the trophy for the first time since 2021, ahead of Ireland.

England had drawn against Ireland a week ago, meaning it was all in play going into the final round of fixtures, but England were still up against it.

Ireland had beaten Scotland 36-0 earlier in the day, meaning England needed to secure victory by five points, including a bonus point, to take the title, and that’s exactly what they did.

The victory set ecstatic scenes in Pau, with Alan Dickens’ side securing their eighth U20 Six Nations title since the competition was introduced in 2008.

England had started the match well, with Ben Redshaw scoring a try after just two minutes before the home side hit back.

France crossed the line three times and took a 21-5 lead halfway through the first half after the follow-up games, while England’s hopes hung by a thread.

However, Jamie Isaacs went over twice, and Ioan Jones registered an interception score, giving his team the crucial bonus point against a team that could call on ten World Cup winners.

Henry Pollock and James Halliwell contributed to their team’s score to help them widen the gap with their opponents, with England finishing a solitary point above Ireland in the standings.
