Eerie footage shows creepy mysterious car graveyard in the Montana mountains that’s been growing for 50 YEARS and become a Mecca for auto-enthusiasts

  • Cars up to a century old cover hundreds of acres of Montana wilderness
  • Classic Cadillacs and Rolls Royces rust next to the Fords, Dodges and Plymouths
  • Some will eventually be sold for parts, recycled or even used as props in blockbuster movies

A secret junkyard filled with thousands of relics from the golden age of motoring becomes a pilgrimage site for car enthusiasts willing to trek through the Montana wilderness.

Photos from Dailymail.com from 2012 have been given an unlikely afterlife online after catching the attention of car fans on Reddit who wanted to track down the location at the foot of the Rocky Mountains.

One who did was YouTuber Lambvinskis Garage, who drove 10 hours from his home in Washington state to see thousands of classic cars spread out over hundreds of acres.

The site dates back to the 1970s but contains cars nearly a century old, some of which will eventually be sold for parts, recycled or even used as props in blockbuster films.

“I’m going to say this right now, they don’t really want us to tell you who they are because they don’t want to be on the phone all the time,” the YouTuber confided.

“If you guys just want parts, send me an email and I can put you in touch with them.”

Others who have made the trip have spoken of the indelible impression it left on them.

“The most surreal and creepy thing ever,” wrote one. ‘There’s a round-nosed Studebaker, an old Rolls Royce, several VW buses.

“All kinds of incredibly fun rides have been dumped for no apparent reason and left to just rot.”

Hundreds of school buses have been added to the collection in recent years and some were surprised at the value of some of the vehicles they spotted on site.

“That’s a $40,000 bus,” someone commented.

“This is actually quite beautiful,” another added.

“Looks like everyone parked at a concert, had a few drinks and then left their car behind,” a third wrote.

Others could see the appeal of a car yard in the wide open spaces of Montana.

“I’m old enough to remember when they used to pile cars five cars high in the Bay Area of California, so you had to be really careful going into the scrap yard,” one person wrote on YouTube.

“They used to make you sign a statement saying they’re not responsible if you get hurt on the demolition site.”

Others found the images quite moving.

“Kind of depressing to see all the cars and trucks I grew up with (and loved) together and returning to the land they came from.”

But the experts seem determined to keep the knowledge to themselves.

‘That’s a great garden,’ wrote one, ‘and I won’t tell you the location either.’
