Ed Sheeran took some time out from his performance in Kansas City to help out an expectant family by revealing the gender of their upcoming child.

The 32-year-old singer was performing at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, the home of the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs, when he was handed an envelope from a couple, which revealed the sex of their expectant child.

Sheeran was singing his song Perfect, when he seemed to have spotted a sign the couple was holding up, which apparently asked the singer to reveal the gender of their child.

While Sheeran posted a video of the reveal on his Instagram, another video from Twitter user @505serena begins with Sheeran saying, ‘Can you pass it up?’

The envelope was passed up to the British singer, when he said, ‘I will go back to singing “Perfect”, but I feel like this is the first time, sort of thing.’

He opened the envelope and took out some pieces of paper, examining theme briefly before stating, ‘It’s a girl,’ as the crowd burst into applause.

The camera then moves to the happy couple who embraced in a hug in the standing-room only section close to the stage, when Sheeran added another remark.

‘Can I just say as a father of two daughters, it’s very awesome. It’s very awesome. Congratulations,’ Sheeran said, before going back to his performance.

Sheeran’s The Subtract Tour, in support of his sixth studio album Subtract (-), has been full of fun-filled surprised.

The singer’s previous stop was last weekend at Soldier Field in Chicago, where he stopped by the infamous Windy City hot dog stand Wiener’s Circle, which is known for hurling playful insults at its customers.

‘This place is legendary [in] Chicago for serving hot dogs and insulting their customers. I loved it. See you at the stadium tonight x,’ Sheeran wrote in the caption of his video post.

The video showed Sheeran serving hot dogs while the stand’s employees hurled insults like, ‘He’s nervous because you guys won’t shut the f**k up,’ as Sheeran laughed.

He also shared last Sunday that his show at Soldier Field, home of the NFL’s Chicago Bears, set a new record.

‘Broke the attendance record at Soldier Field in Chicago this weekend, played a subtract show to a pin drop silence crowd, got shouted at serving hotdogs, and got a new tattoo. Autumn is coming, tell a friend x,’ he said.

The singer’s whole tour has been full of surprises, including the Detroit show featured a surprise appearance from rapper Eminem, and a surprise stop at a Nashville karaoke bar Santa’s Pub after his show at Nissan Stadium, home of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans.

Sheeran is now gearing up for his August 11 stop at the State Theatre and August 12 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, followed by an August 18 performance at the Paramount Theatre and August 19 at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver.

The tour wraps up with intimate theater shows followed by a massive football stadium arena show in Seattle, Vancouver, Oakland and Los Angeles.
