It began like any other day for Eastleigh resident Wasir Daud, 38, who left home to attend a hospital for a skin-care appointment.
When she failed to return, her daughter, Amina Abdirashid, 22, and her 10-year-old niece, Nuseiba Dahir, set out to search for her.
That day’s ordinary errands soon turned tragic, leaving a family and community shattered.
CCTV footage captured Amina and Nuseiba as they left their home to find Wasir. Hours later, the lifeless bodies of all three would be discovered in separate locations: Bahati, Parklands, and Machakos.
The details of their final moments, uncovered through autopsy reports, revealed the horrific violence they suffered in the hands of their captors.
Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor shared the findings after conducting postmortem examinations at City Mortuary.

Wasir’s body bore evidence of extreme brutality. Her hands had been severed, and the skin on her face was peeled away, indicating she died a painful death. Her neck was almost cut off, with cuts through her trachea and neck vessels.
Amina, who had gone looking for her mother, was also subjected to a violent death. The young woman was stabbed multiple times, but it is a stab wound through the heart which killed her.
Her 10-year-old cousin, Nuseiba, experienced an equally harrowing fate; she was suffocated to death. And with signs suggesting a possible sexual assault before her murder.
Police believe the murders were connected to a ransom demand. Investigations show that the three were kidnapped by people they knew, who then asked for ransom payments. Wasir’s recognition of one of the kidnappers likely led to the violence.
As news of the murders spread, grief and anger swept through Eastleigh and Nairobi. Protests erupted, demanding justice for the victims and action against violence targeting women.
The tragedy has ignited calls for justice and sparked a national conversation on safety and trust, as a grieving community awaits answers.
