Detectives in Siaya have launched a m*****t for a suspected d**g trafficker who evaded arrest through cunning tricks.

According to a statement shared by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspect believed to be ferrying 245 rolls of bhang weighing 17.5 kilograms fled as his package was being inspected at the booking office when he attempted to ship it to Mombasa.

His unexpected disappearance raised suspicion prompting the attendance to engage the police who swiftly responded.

“In Siaya, a brazen trafficker attempted to ship a s****************e to Mombasa. Using a nylon sack to conceal his cargo, the trafficker’s plan seemed foolproof.

“However, as the package was being inspected at the booking office, the trafficker vanished into thin air, setting off alarm bells for the vigilant attendant. Sensing something fishy, the attendant alerted the police, and a swift response was mounted,” DCI said.

Upon checking the package, police found the rolls of bhang neatly tucked under a layer of raw bananas.

The seized i*****l goods were taken to Siaya Police Station and a hunt for the suspect has since been launched.

“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations reaffirms its commitment in the w*r against trafficking in n*******s, as it strives to stay one step ahead of the ever-evolving tactics of these cunning individuals,” DCI added.
