Delta flight attendant threatens to have Grammy-nominated gospel vocalist escorted from plane after she refuses to stop singing to passengers

A Grammy-nominated gospel singer has clashed with a Delta flight attendant after she refused to stop performing for fellow passengers.

Videos shared on social media show Bobbi Storm, 36, making several attempts to put on a show for travelers until an airline employee threatens to escort her off the plane.

The Detroit-born singer is featured on The Maverick Way, nominated for the 2024 Grammys Best Gospel Album, from Christian group Maverick City Music.

Footage of the drama begins mid-confrontation, as Storm appears to have stood in the aisle during the flight to perform, as an unimpressed attendant orders her back to her seat.

“I’m on the billboards now,” says Storm, while the supervisor says, “Can you sit down and be quiet for a moment?”

“The seat belt sign is out. It’s not a disruption,” the singer replies, though she walks backwards toward the aisle and slides into her seat anyway.

The passenger next to her films what happens next as the drama escalates. Now back in her seat, Storm begins telling her origin story to her attentive listeners, to mixed reactions.

People sitting across the aisle cast awkward sideways glances in her direction, while one woman appears to enjoy the spectacle.

“A long time ago I sang on airplanes,” says Storm. ‘I just discovered that I’m in the mood for two GrammyS. My very first time, guys.”

Several passengers applaud as she explains, “My name is Bobbi Storm and I’m up for two Grammys.

“I sing to the Lord, and my song is heard on all platforms. It’s called We Can’t Forget Him. I want to share this with you.’

Storm reveals that she had planned to treat passengers to a song as soon as they boarded the plane, but reconsidered this plan because she has “reached the next status.”

But at this point the flight attendant comes into view again and interrupts her story, asking her, “Can you be quiet?”

Storm hits back, claiming the other passengers “enjoyed it.”

“Well, I’m not enjoying it,” the Delta employee replies. “I’m asking you, can you please be quiet?”

“Am I going to jail if I don’t do it?” Storm asks him.

The Delta employee becomes visibly frustrated and tells her to “please answer the question,” then repeats again, “Are you willing and able to be quiet right now?”

“I do what the Lord tells me to do,” says the singer.

“I’m asking you a question, yes or no,” the airline employee replies.

‘I am your flight leader, I want you to follow my instructions. My instructions are that you answer my question. Can you be quiet now?’

But Storm instead turns to the surrounding passengers and asks them, “What do you think?” Nobody answers.

“I’m asking you, ma’am,” the attendant answers dryly, after which Storm can ask her question again to her audience in the air.

The attendant eventually resorts to a threat, warning her, “If you can’t follow my instructions, you won’t take this flight.”

Storm returns soon. “If that’s the case, that’s fine,” she says. “If you’re the person in charge of everything, that’s fine.”

“Okay, thanks,” the flight attendant says as their conflict finally seems to be over.

But seconds later, Storm turns back to the other passengers and says in a low voice, “I’ll sing it in a low tone for all of you in the back, if that’s okay.”

‘The song is called We Can’t Forget Him’.

Speaking about the counselor, she adds, “I don’t know the problem. No one else has ever had a problem.’

She then begins to sing while the surrounding passengers look pointedly away from her.

Others give soft applause as she finishes the verse and joins her gospel group.

Her performance was widely mocked online after videos of the interaction were shared on social media.

“Basically quickly off the Grammys list into a no-fly zone,” one person said, while others said it was “disrespectful.”

Storm even shared the video on her Instagram account, sparking a second wave of criticism.

“This can be annoying, people are tired, traveling and don’t want to be disturbed,” one person said.

‘Sharing your gift doesn’t mean bothering other people. I love you and your music, but this isn’t right.

‘You ignored the flight attendant’s instructions, that’s not godly. I’m sure most of them wouldn’t care what you had to say. Be respectful of others.’

Others cringed on the singer’s behalf, saying the video “inflicted vicarious embarrassment” and accused her of “boasting.”

But Storm took it a step further and posted a follow-up video claiming that Delta reached out to her and apologized to her.

The singer even said she hopes the supervisor can “learn a valuable lesson about how to treat other people.”

Speaking of Delta, she tells her 160,000 followers: “They contacted me.

“So whoever called, I can’t say thank you because I don’t want this guy to be reprimanded if he loses his job.

“I just want us to figure out how to treat each other.

“No rules were broken, and it was just me spending my joy with people after they gave me the opportunity to do so.

“So I just hope that if he watches this, he can learn a valuable lesson about how to treat other people.”

She signs off her video by saying that Delta employees are “fans” of her music.
