David Beckham and Gary Neville hope the new documentary about Manchester United’s historic Treble win in 1999 will inspire the current squad.

The duo were part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s team that claimed the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League, while United’s current players sit eighth in the top flight after 11 years without a league title.

“Honestly, I think anyone who watches this documentary who has a connection with United will be inspired by it,” Beckham told BBC Radio 5 Live during the premiere of Amazon Prime’s ’99’.

‘It has been a difficult time for the team in recent years, but it always will be.

“When we were as successful as the number of years there would always be this time.

“We feel like it’s probably gone on a little too long, but without a doubt it will mean something to these homegrown guys because the homegrown guys are actually talking about that moment, so we hope it inspires them.”

Ten Hag’s team has had another miserable performance after being defeated 4-0 by Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday evening.

The result was their thirteenth defeat in the competition – a record for the club in Premier League history – and it fueled more speculation about the future of their Dutch manager.

Neville, who opened up during a recent interview he had with the United boss, said Ten Hag remains surprisingly confident despite his precarious position. The former defender also sympathized with the current players, given the high expectations at Old Trafford.

“Right now it’s very difficult,” he said. ‘It can’t be easy for them to have this history shoved down their throats and, to be fair, quite a few of us are on TV and we talk about the team regularly, so I can understand why that would be uncomfortable.

‘For example, I hope that in three weeks’ time, when Manchester United plays City in the FA Cup final, they will see this as an opportunity to shock this country and probably the world by beating City in a final.

“It was an FA Cup that Sir Alex Ferguson won in 1990 that marked the start of this successful period that we were part of. Why is this FA Cup against Manchester City not possible?”

‘If we look at the results of the past few months, at the result against Crystal Palace, we can be very gloomy about that. Or we can watch the FA Cup final and think, “Could this be the start of something special where confidence builds from that moment on.”

‘I spoke to Erik ten Hag last week and I must say that he is an extremely confident man for someone who is under a lot of pressure.’

According to The Telegraph, Sir Jim Ratcliffe will task three directors to make a decision on whether United will part ways with Ten Hag this summer.

They report that interim CEO Jean-Claude Blanc, who took over from Richard Arnold, will be instrumental in providing incoming CEO Omar Berrada with “more eyes and ears on the ground” and that he will also be a “trusted is a voice that can provide expert insight’ .’

Newly appointed technical director Jason Wilcox will join the pair as part of that advisory group and the outlet claims he will also be a “key figure” in determining Ten Hag’s suitability for the position.

Newcastle sporting director Dan Ashworth is yet to arrive but appears to be moving closer to a move to Old Trafford and is set to take the Magpies to court over a settlement as compensation to end his garden leave has not been agreed .

Ten Hag’s potential executioners will judge him on ‘his overall approach, relationship with the dressing room and the qualifications and availability for potential replacements.’

Measured against these four areas, the quartet will decide whether he will be in charge next season.

The relationship with the dressing room in particular is currently under scrutiny. As Mail Sport, his authority within the dressing room is being eroded, although he is likely to remain in charge for the remaining Premier League games and the FA Cup final.
