With the Stanley Cup Playoffs looming, Dave Portnoy has placed big money on a bet for the NHL crown.
On Friday, the Barstool Sports chief posted a screenshot of a bet that could turn his $150,000 bet into a $1.2 million payout.
Portnoy has the Edmonton Oilers winning the Cup at +700 odds on DraftKings SportsBook. A win for the Oilers would not only mark their first title of the Connor McDavid era, but also extend Portnoy’s success in sports betting.
So far in 2024, Portnoy has won $5.4 million on future bets on some of the biggest sporting events.
Portnoy won $1.5 million on New Year’s Day after the Michigan Wolverines defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Washington Huskies upset the Texas Longhorns in January.

Earlier in April, the self-proclaimed most popular gambler in the world had an incredible gambling week. UConn’s national championship win earned him $2.1 million, before Scottie Scheffler’s victory at The Masters took his winnings to $3.45 million.

Edmonton is tied with the Florida Panthers and the Colorado Avalanche with the second-best odds behind the Carolina Hurricanes (+650) in a wide-open race for the Stanley Cup.
The Oilers begin their opening round against the Los Angeles Kings on Monday at 10 PM ET in Edmonton.
