Daniel Ings recalled a raucous drama school party where he first met his The Gentleman co-star Theo James.
Theo, 39, plays fictional lead character Eddie Horniman in the series who inherits his father’s substantial estate and the secret marijuana farm beneath it, with Daniel, 38, starring as his on-screen older brother Freddie.
But the actor has revealed their relationship actually started much earlier, when the duo studied together at Bristol Old Vic Theater School.
On Wednesday’s episode of Good Morning, Daniel candidly revealed that he had bumped into then ‘roaring drunk’ Theo at a house party.
He told presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary: ‘I was playing chess with someone in the living room and he came in. Later he came back and said, ‘Are you still playing? You know there’s a party out there!’ ‘

Daniel continued, “An hour later he came back roaring drunk, dropped the chessboard, threw it across the room and shouted, ‘Stop playing chess!’
‘Later everyone sat with their faces pressed against the window while lighting fireworks in the garden with their bare hands.’
In The Gentlemen, Theo plays the fictional protagonist Eddie, who “inherits his father’s extensive estate only to discover” that it is a “weed empire owned by the legendary Mickey Pearson.”
The series sees a host of unsavory characters from the British criminal underworld want a piece of Eddie’s operation.
Determined to free his family from their clutches, Eddie tries to make the gangsters play their own game. But as he gets sucked into the world of crime, he begins to find a taste for it.
Daniel’s character Freddie, the eldest son of the former Duke of Halstead, finds himself in trouble when he owes a family of Scouse drug dealers £8 million.
After making a deal with the family on behalf of this brother, Eddie tells Freddie to dress up as a chicken for a performance for the dealers.
Addressing the scene, Daniel added: “The chicken suit slip was real. It was the first, I was completely ready for it.’
On Wednesday’s episode of Good Morning, Daniel revealed how he bumped into then ‘roaring drunk’ Theo when they were both studying at Bristol Old Vic Theater School.

He continued, “They called annoyingly and we were all like, ‘Noooo,’ but they managed to keep it in the episode.”
The trailer opens with Theo’s character Eddie Horniman attending his father Archibald’s funeral, after which he inherits his estate and becomes duke.
In a conversation with his brother Freddy (Daniel Ings), Eddie says: ‘I didn’t ask for this. The title has no practical value. The company is broken. There are holes in the roof, the staff is disgusting and you brother, a coke-snorting asshole.”
Eddie is then introduced to Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario) who tells him that she “used to do business” with his father.
She took him through the estate and said: ‘It must have been a bit of a shock to inherit a house, a title.
‘As a new landlord, you will receive a substantial amount back if you let us carry out our work.’
Eddie then discovers that the estate is an integral part of a cannabis empire, with several unsavory members of the British underworld wanting a piece of the pie.
But it seems Eddie is too preoccupied with his new business as he is heard saying: ‘I’m going to remove their interests from this estate.’
