Couple charges $333 entry to wedding, raises funds for charity

Charging guests to attend weddings is an unusual and controversial idea. Few people would be happy to pay to attend someone else’s special day, especially if they have spent a lot on their own weddings.

Nova and Reemo Styles, however, decided to do just that. They charged friends and family $333 for entry to their wedding. Surprisingly, this idea might be practical for those with large families.

The couple, known on social media as @thestylesfamilia, got married at St Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City last June. With both having large families, they initially planned to invite 350 guests. However, they worried they wouldn’t have time to speak with everyone.

They decided to narrow the guest list to 60. To determine who truly wanted to be there, they introduced the ticketing system. Nova explained their decision, saying, “Instead of thinking about everyone else, we said, ‘What do we want? What do we want to do?’ So that’s how the ticket idea came up, because we said we can’t choose anyone. How are we going to choose one aunt over another aunt? Like there’s no way we could do that.”

The wedding was not a traditional affair. Nova wanted a modern celebration, touring New York City’s attractions like Hudson Yards, the Supreme Courthouse, and One World Trade Center. To accommodate this, they hired a party bus with a capacity of just 60 people.

The wedding cost over $70,000. The $333 per ticket would have brought in nearly $20,000. However, the couple directed all proceeds to a charity supporting couples facing infertility challenges. Reemo stated, “We really wanted people who really want to go, for us.”
