Coronation Street star Ellie Leach ‘is using Strictly Come Dancing to recover from heartbreak’ following split from ‘cheating’ ex-boyfriend: ‘It’s given her something to smile about’

Ellie Leach has reportedly joined the cast of Strictly Come Dancing to heal her heartbreak following her split from ‘cheating’ ex-boyfriend Reagan Pettman.

Sources have revealed that the BBC ballroom and latin competition has helped the former Coronation Street star put a smile back on her face.

Ellie Leach, 22, who quit her role as Faye Windass earlier this year after a decade on the Cobbles, split with her dancer beau back in May over ‘cheating’ allegations.

According to The Mirror, a source said: ‘She learned that Reagan had gone behind her back, and they split up. It was very sad, but for her the trust was gone and there was no way back for them as a couple.

‘Ellie is a really positive person and always has a smile on her face – but it’s been a difficult time. That’s why it was brilliant that she has landed Strictly, it has really given her something to smile about.’

It was also reported that Ellie split from her boyfriend Reagan of five years after taking ‘time to reflect which direction her life is going in’ after leaving Corrie.

Sources claimed Ellie may welcome the so-called ‘Strictly Curse’ which sees stars fall for their dance partners.

A source told The Sun: ‘This could be just the tonic for Ellie, who’s had some huge life changes this year and could do with something fresh to focus on.

‘Ellie has the world at her feet after stepping away from Corrie and she has taken time to reflect on which direction her life is going in.

‘Ellie and Reagan decided to call things a day and she is making the most of her single status.’

MailOnline has contacted Ellie Leach’s representatives for a comment.

The actress first stepped foot onto the cobbles as a wide-eyed nine-year-old back in 2011, playing the adopted daughter of Eddie and Anna Windass.

Faye’s Weatherfield departure saw her break the heart of her fiancé Craig Tinker (Colson Smith), as she fled the Cobbles to be with her daughter Miley (Frankie-Jae Simmonds) and Miley’s father Jackson Hodge (Joseph Evans).

After her final scenes aired, Ellie paid tribute to her ‘best friend’ Colson, admitting he is one of the ‘most special people’ in her life.

She wrote: ‘To my best friend, where to even begin, starting this job at 9 years old I didn’t know what to expect, never in my wildest dreams did I think I would meet someone who would become one of the most special people in my life.

‘You really are one in a million, I’ve never met anyone quite like you and I’m so blessed to call you my best mate, just don’t go getting another fiancé too quickly okay!!!!!!

‘Thank you for everything Colson Smith, everything we’ve been through, everything we’ve done together, I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for you. I love you and I always will. Craye forever.’
