Coronation Street is set for another major schedule shake up after ITV confirmed the latest changes on Tuesday.

The soap, which usually airs on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening, has been facing recent disruption due to both football and rugby coverage.

And fans are certainly not happy.

Taking to Twitter to express their outrage, fans of the Manchester soap claimed the changes were ‘absolutely ridiculous’ after the schedule was thrown into chaos again.

This week the episodes will air for three consecutive days at the start of the week, airing from 8pm to 9pm Monday to Wednesday.

The changes mean fans will have to wait a little bit longer than usual for their dose of Weatherfield drama until the soap returns next Monday October 9.

Coronation Street shared the news over on Twitter as they wrote: ‘A slight schedule change this week everyone. Join us at 8pm Monday to Wednesday!’

However the message sent fans into uproar as they expressed their anger on the social media platform.

One wrote: ‘This absolutely ridiculous! Can’t cope with this anymore’ alongside a series of red anger emojis.

Another penned: ‘Nah! Fix it or lose me’ while a third joked: ‘Stop playing with my routine lads’.

The schedule change is once again due to the Rugby World cup, and some fans were keen to highlight the unfairness when the soap is forced to substitute its slot for the sport.

One wrote: ‘For God’s sake! Not again! Why do you always put football first? There are so many sports channels – some which are free to view!’

Another commented: ‘All this daft messing around with the schedule just to accommodate stupid rugby! ITV needs to turn that pointless ITV2 channel into a sports channel and dump all their sport on that!’

A third added: ‘How long is this bl***y rugby gonna last! Can’t they stick it on another channel! Sick of soaps getting messed about for sport!’
