Actress and comedian Senjee, real name Sylvia Savai is preparing to take legal action against Pulselive and Ghafla Kenya after both websites falsely reported her death last week.
The false reports, which included her photo, claimed that Senjee, 35, had passed away. Although Pulselive later removed the post and apologized, Ghafla Kenya did not issue an apology, only pulling the content.
Senjee, who is currently battling endometriosis, expressed her frustration over the reckless reporting. She revealed the emotional distress the false reports caused, saying, “These people have ruined my mental health.”
She explained that the incident left her waking up to RIP messages, missed calls, and confusion in her family. “My mother nearly fainted when people started offering condolences at her shop,” she added.
Comedian Issues Prior Issues with Pulselive
This is not the first time Senjee has had issues with Pulselive. Back in June, when she was fundraising for medical treatment, the platform published incorrect details about her fundraising efforts. “It shows a pattern of carelessness,” Senjee said, adding that she felt targeted because of her health condition.
Pulselive later explained the mistake, stating that they had mistakenly used Senjee’s photo while reporting the death of another actress, Eilene Otieno, known as Senje.
However, Senjee insists the apology is not enough. She emphasized that the damage to her mental health, family, and reputation goes beyond just an apology.
“The misinformation has taken a toll,” she said, and she is now seeking legal action to hold the platforms accountable.
This incident has sparked a broader conversation about the need for media outlets to ensure accuracy and responsibility when reporting sensitive information.
