COLLINS JUMAISI TELLS COURT HE WAS MOLESTED, TORTURED TO CONFESS TO 42 MURDERS

Suspected serial killer Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, who faces allegations of murdering at least 42 women including his wife, and dismembering their bodies. And then dumping them in an abandoned quarry a few metres from Kware Police Station at Mukuru kwa Njenga slums has made shocking claims in court on July 16, 2024.

He alleged police brutality following his arrest.

Jumaisi, represented by his lawyer John Maina Ndegwa, told the Makadara Law Courts that he was tortured and molested by police officers, which forced him to confess to the murders.

“My client is in urgent need of medical attention,” Ndegwa said.

“During his detention, he was subjected to severe abuse and forced to confess to crimes he did not commit.”

The lawyer argued that the confession presented to the public was coerced and unreliable, urging the court to provide Jumaisi with immediate medical care.

The DCI refuted these allegations, asserting that only one officer was present to record Jumaisi’s statement. They requested the court to detain the suspect for 30 days to complete their investigation, arguing that releasing him could lead to further criminal activity.

The DCI asked for more time to locate witnesses and victims’ families, conduct DNA sampling, and perform an identification parade and mental assessment of the suspect.

Defense lawyer Ndegwa opposed the 30-day detention, suggesting a 14-day period instead. He argued that much of the prosecution’s case was based on speculation and that Jumaisi’s right to a fair trial should be upheld.

“My client still has the right to bail,” Ndegwa said.

“The prosecution cannot take unlimited time for their investigations.”

Despite the defense’s objections, Principal Magistrate Irene Gichobi granted the DCI’s request, allowing them to detain Jumaisi for 30 days to continue their investigation.

The case has garnered significant attention, more updates to follow.
